Acupuncture

A 5,000 year old Chinese medicine modality, encompassing a holistic approach to healing the mind-body-spirit.

History

100-115 BCE Han Dynasty Soldiers that returned from war shared stories of how much better they felt, after being wounded by an arrow on certain areas of their bodies. During this era, Bian Stone Therapy was replaced by the emergence of Iron for creating Acupuncture Needles. All these events led Ancient Chinese Doctors towards more research and ultimately the creation of Acupuncture Points, Meridians and Qi (Energy) flow.

305-204 BC The Yellow Emperor’s Internal Classic (黄帝内经) is the first documentation of Traditional Chinese Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, it lists the four main ancient Chinese medical practices:

The puncturing method of the Bian Stones has become Acupuncture, the heated stone application has become Moxibustion, and the stone's scraping method has become Gua Sha or Skin Scraping. Over time the Bian Stones were replaced with bones, bull horns, iron, bronze, gold or silver.
